This post may upset some but is my opinion and good advice for every young person that is becoming a man.
Every man should own his own tool box consisting or the minimum amount of tools.
It is a worthwhile investment. It may cost you a few hundred dollars for the minimum amount of tools but i promise you that it will pay for itself within a year. Especially with youtube now and all the people there offering tutorials on how to repair pretty much anything.
Your tool box should contain at least the following tools.
A) Cordless Drill- with drill and screw driver bits. A magnetic holder is also handy and cheap
B) Spanner set (In Australia, make sure you have a metric set with at least 10mm & 12mm spanners as you will hardly ever use the others)
C) Sockets and Ratchet - Also it is good to have these
D) Screw drivers- At least a phillips and flat head. Have a few different sized flat-heads. 1 Phillips 2 will be ok as it will also work for pozi
E) Security Bit set- A few years ago this would not be on the list but now it is a must to fix alot of electronic things
F) Hammer is self explanatory
G) Hand Saw and Mitre Box- Will definitely come in handy and can do anything that an expensive drop saw can, just runs on elbow grease
H) Multi Meter- These can be picked up for around $5. They are on the list because they are so cheap but very handy to have. Make sure to learn how to use one aswell
I) Selection of fasteners- Such as screws or different sizes, nails, cable ties, nuts and bolts. (these can be found for free on old things you are disposing of,)
J) Needle and Thread- Comes in handy for alot of things and costs peanuts
K) Hack saw- Again pretty much self explanatory
L) Torch/Flash Light- Get a decent torch so that you can see where there is no light available.
M) Pliers- A pair of pliers is essential to every mans tool box
N) Tape Measure & Pencils- Make sure your pencil is always sharp and that you have a few because they always grow legs
O) Stanley Knife/Box Cutter- This is another essential item to have in your tool box
P) Tool Box- You will need a tool box that is large enough to fit these tools into.
I could have included other tools but this is a list of the bare minimum of tools that you need to be a man that can repair most things. This is not just a list of tools to help you save alot of money. If you own a tool box with these tools in it, you will become 100% more attractive to women. That is for certain. With these tools and an internet connection you will not have to call a repair man to fix anything. A tradesman will not even come to look at your problem without charging $150. In Australia, If you call a plumber to fix your dripping tap for example, It will take him all of 5 minutes and cost all of $2 but he will charge you minimum of $250 so it is wise for anybody to own and become familiar with the tools listed above.
Below i will make another list for people who have aquired these tools and would like to know what they should buy next to become more efficient in DIY
