THINKING TOO MUCH?
A common problem that people have is thinking about things that you do not want to think about. In this thread i am going to try to help.
I think this is the underlying cause of alot of peoples problems such as cutting and even suicide.
Sitting there thinking about something or someone that has upset you or embarrassed you. It could be anything, it could even be something silly, It is not really important what it is, its that it keeps intruding in on your life. The thoughts may go away while you are enjoying a game or a conversation or otherwise keeping your mind occupied but as soon as you sit down and try to say, watch a movie or something, there that thought is again. It just wont go away. Even if there is nothing to worry about and you have sorted it, the bloody thing keeps finding its way into your head.
It is very annoying and can make you go crazy. I can tell you that even after time, it doesnt stop happening BUT you can learn to ignore it. What i do is try to imagine a box, put that thought into the box and close the lid and sit on it, Try not to let that thought out. If it does creep out, say aloud go away, that helps but may make you look crazy so maybe dont do that but just cough or something.
This condition has plagued me my whole life and i am sure i am not the only one. It makes it so you cannot concentrate on a movie or read a book. Its a really bad thing to have and as far as i know it has no cure. Some people try to fix it with drugs or alchole which is not the answer either.
The reason for this thread is really just to let you know that you are not alone and you can learn to cope with this better with time and without any mind altering chemicals.
Another thing that helps is exercise, go for a walk, while walking the thought may continue to intrude but it will be easier to deal with and put back in its box.
I think the reason that this happens is because your subconscious feels as though it is a matter that needs to be solved and dealt with but more often than not this is not the case. Some things just need to be put in a box and forgotten.
So if you are sitting here reading this but cant get through it because you have a nagging thought that wont leave your head just know that it is part of being human. I have found that the best way to deal with intruding thoughts is to make something, something that requires you to actually use your brain. I dont know what you can make but an example would be a cabinet. You have to work out the size of the sides and then the back and top taking into consideration the width of material used.
It will calm down with time and age. I found this to get better at age 25 or so, It still happens but i think im used to it now and doesnt really bother me but when i was younger it was a real problem. If you dont know what i am talking about, lucky you but if you do, you will be ok and please dont do something harmful to yourself to stop it because it doesnt work anyway and just makes this problem worse.
I hope i have been able to help you youngsters out here as i have been through alot in my life and just want to help, that is all i am about. Just one more thing, anti drepressants and anti psychotics are 100% NOT the answer, Try to be strong and find your own way to stop these thoughts intruding into your mind. So wether it is a girl or boy friend thought, a bully thought, a test failure, an embarrassing episode, It could be anything but try to learn to show them the way out as soon as they find their way in
There is nothing wrong with you but there may be something wrong with the way you cope with this. All the best to you in your journey in this life. If you ever want to find me, im not hard to find, There is no problem worse than not having any at all bc that is what being alive is about
Above was posted on another forum that i am no longer a member of so lucky I copied it so that i could post it here. I just remembered about it because i just saw a video by John Green that was talking about the same thing. I dontagree with the treatment he reccomends as i dont think doctors or psychiatrists have a decent and worthwhile treament for these things, let alone cure. I have had alot of experience with the mental health sysytem. With some brains and a bit of luck i beat it but i dont know anybosy else who has. I will soon make a whole thrread on this subject but you see someone go into the system with a bit of depression aand after a bit of time, usually not even a year, they will be somebody else, they will be obese, no emotions, No thoughts at all which i think is worse than having too many plus a whole lot of other symptoms that i will get into eleswhere.
I tink the reason people put on so much weight is that your bosy is trying to 'water down' the chemicals put into it, Just like if you are dunk and then eat something you sober up quickly. Its your body trying to get rid of these chemicals.
You see it does not even make sense to treat mental health issues with brain chemicals as there is no imbalance like they say there is because if it were that simple they could just test the brain to make a diagnosis but there is no physical test that can be done to diagnose any of the mental disorders. It is litterally all in the mind or something that has no physical origin.
